The magic of gathering together, immersed in nature, the simplicity of gentle company, eating together hanging out, then peeling off to focus on our own creative work. 6-8 artists each bringing a solo creative project to focus on. During the days we’ll share food, tea breaks evenings around the fire, music, hot tubs or sauna. Workspace is available along with access to the woods and fields surrounding the yard, each artist will bring their own creative materials to work with. The flavour of the Woodyard is Animism, Creativity and Semi-feral Creatureliness. Whatever you create whilst you’re here is for your own pleasure and yours to keep or burn. In our eyes, everyone can be an artist.

We’ll be based at the Woodyard which for the last 15 years we’ve been developing as a space to nurture playfulness and creativity, a chance to take inspiration from observing nature, enjoy the quiet and slow down. This is a rustic, off grid, low impact venue where we will be living simply with compost toilets basic washing / cooking facilities. Costs include firewood, gas, tea & biscuits, use of workspaces, hot tub and sauna. The Woodyard is on a farm surrounded by fields and woods in Gloucestershire. The space is dedicated to Creativity and Animism.

Artists can bring campervans, tents to sleep in, some cabins are also available. Please note that this is not a ‘facilitated’ retreat – but rather something that we all create together. It is an opportunity to take time out, nap, go for walks, follow your nose, work on a creative project you’ve been thinking about for years but never quite made time for. The idea is that the shape of the week will emerge through our time spent together, the individual skills of who comes. We only ask that people commit to the full 5 days and nights.

We will be self-catering in the field kitchen, sharing in shopping, cooking & camp tasks throughout the week. We’d love to see you there!!!

This is just by way of introduction, on the retreat you can achieve a million things or nothing. The invitation is simply to engage, playfully create and to be present.
